Walter Meier (Climate UK ) has announced a 26% increase in the sales of chillers and VRF air conditioning systems in the last year - reinforcing the wisdom of the company's recent strategic decision to focus on applied air conditioning and humidification products. In line with this move, the company will no longer supply single split system air conditioners except where they form an integral part of an engineered solution.

"For over 35 years our company has differentiated itself through an emphasis on engineering expertise and unparalleled technical support, and this continues to set us apart from other distributors," explained managing director Mike Slattery. "The UK single split system market has now evolved to a point where added value engineering support is less important than price and this is at odds with Walter Meier's group strategy.

"We are, however, ideally placed to add value to applied air conditioning projects where our expertise proves invaluable to both specifiers and contractors. For that reason we are now concentrating on our core business of VRF, humidification, chillers, and hydronic systems - as well as our rapidly expanding after sales and spare parts operation. And, where single splits for specific areas form part of an integrated, engineered solution, we will continue to source and supply the most appropriate products."

Roger Palamarczuk to head up Walter Meier's humidification division

Walter Meier (Climate UK ) has appointed Roger Palamarczuk to head up the company's humidification division, with effect from 4 th August 2008.

Roger has extensive experience of the humidification and air conditioning sectors and has held senior management positions with Climate Center, Eaton Williams Group and Carrier.

"Roger's breadth of knowledge is the perfect complement to Walter Meier's comprehensive product portfolio and although he will focus primarily on humidification he is ideally qualified to advise customers on fully integrated climate control solutions," said managing director Mike Slattery.

Roger added: "The very strong Condair, Defensor and Draabe brands in the Walter Meier portfolio put us in an ideal position to offer high performance solutions for every humidification application. I am delighted to have joined such a well established and respected company and am looking forward to building on an already strong market presence".
