The versatile Datatech series of vertical air conditioners from Walter Meier has been specifically designed for efficient temperature and humidity control of computer rooms, laboratories and other technological applications where efficient removal of sensible heat is required.
The Datatech range has been designed to meet the needs of a wide range of applications through a wide choice of options combined with high performance and exceptional energy efficiency. It incorporates single compressor direct expansion units from 6kW to 49kW, twin compressor (two separate circuits) direct expansion units from 30kW to 95kW and chilled water units from 6kW to 130kW. Datatech units are available in upflow and downflow configurations, with the opportunity for dual cooling and free cooling on chilled water units.
Additional flexibility comes from the ability to configure multiple Datatech units using local network communications to ensure precise control. This arrangement can be particularly valuable in managing peak loads, or for extending cooling capacity in the future. Interfacing with building management systems is also straightforward.
Energy efficiency is achieved through a number of integral design features. These include large surface areas for heat exchange and filtration which, when combined with optimised component layout, ensure that pressure drops and associated power consumption are minimised.
Direct expansion units can also be supplied with an electronic expansion valve, which offers a number of advantages. These include precise adjustment of refrigerant flow with a fast response to changing conditions, efficient operation at low ambient temperatures and constant superheating under variable load conditions.
Environmental impact is further reduced by the use of a relatively small charge of refrigerant R410A (around 50% less than comparable units).
Components are also arranged to ensure easy frontal access for maintenance.

As standard, the units are supplied with high efficiency, directly driven backward curved radial fans and are also available with DC, electronically commutated EC fans (power factor = 0.92) to reduce power consumption by as much as an additional 50%, depending on operating conditions.
